Kotu Area
Birdwatching in the Kotu Area
Kotu Pond
It will be no surprise to keen birders to hear that these open, but non smelly, sewage pits are a location with a rich bird population. Great Painted Snipe, African Whistling Duck and three species of Sandpiper are just a few which you are likely to see.
Fajara Golf Course
With the Kotu stream running beside part of the course plus some coastal scrub and woodland patches, this area also provides a good range of habitats. Red-billed Firefinch, Beautiful Sunbird and Variable Sunbird, Godwits, Senegal Thick-knee and Blue-bellied Roller are just some of the species that can be seen here.
Cycle Track
Also in the Kotu region, this is a good place to see Standard-winged and Long-tailed Nightjars, Woodland Kingfisher, Pied Flycatchers, African Silverbill and many, many others.
